All over the world today there has been an explosion of social media and consumerism: human life is completely controlled by computers that people have at home, in the cars, in office, in school and always in the hand. Everyone has a mobile phone or a laptop and everybody wants the latest model! Currently the use of mobile phones or computers is increasing amongst people of all ages but especially among teenagers. Today, the most people’s favorite way of communicating are chats and text messages. The social network is so using because it is an easy and fast way to talk and, moreover, it eliminates every distance but very often it destroys the pleasure of face-to-face interaction.
Today teenagers’ life is more complex than in the past. Teenagers constantly use their mobile phones, computers and games online: teenagers have a tendency to become addicted to social media sites and this is the reason why there is a strong tendency of being alone and not doing physical activity.
Social media is in most situations a distraction to study or other activities, but it is not only that… Social media, when used correctly, helps improve young people’s knowledge and enriches them culturally and educationally.
